Students are our priority

Our world has changed. At Mary Baldwin, we are dedicated to empowering our students to approach every barrier like an opportunity. Through donor support of the Empowers Fund we foster our university’s core commitments:

Critical Creative thinkers who are academically prepared to lead in their chosen fields in an economy experiencing profound disruption

Compassionate changemakers with the ethical foundation to make grounded decisions and offer solutions to create value for society

champions of Gender Equity and Cultural Inclusivity with the respect and empathy to lead and celebrate differences

citizens empowered to Impact the World Around Them — not just in the workplace but in their communities— who understand the importance of giving back, inspired by our thousands of alumni who are the embodiment of Mary Baldwin

How do we ensure that our graduates reflect our core commitments and empower potential in our students?

We support them directly through the Empowers Fund. The Empowers Fund is the lifeblood of our student-centered philanthropic mission. This fund directly underwrites: scholarships to offset tuition and enable access; academic programs and faculty support; signature programs in the College for Women like VWIL and PEG; empowering centers like the Office of Inclusive Excellence; and transformative experiences like study abroad, internships, and the annual Capstone Festival.

These unique components and programming are the hallmark of a Mary Baldwin education and create inclusive leaders whose knowledge is fueled by passion.

We don’t teach people to run from their walls; we launch people over them.
